Full Circle, New Beginnings: Alani Leads Our Latest Creative Chapter

We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone for Girls Act Good: the launch of our latest creative development, led by the incredible Alani — marking her very first, but certainly not her last, project with us! Currently, we’re deep into our residency at La Mama Theatre, collaborating with long-time partners Lisa Dallinger and Jennifer Monk on their third joint creation.

After an exciting kick off at La Mama, we’re now drawing inspiration from stories shared by regional women on the netball courts, shaping the story’s structure and bringing its characters to life.

Here’s a fun bit of history: during their last production together, Lisa suspected she might have a little one on board and Jenn was with her when she found out officially that she was! So Alani’s first encounter with La mama was literally the beginning of her existence. Now, Alani is here in the flesh, leading this new creative journey.

This new work delves into the subtle yet profound shifts many women experience as they enter their forties — changes that may go unnoticed but are deeply transformative. Through themes of friendship, humour, and unwavering support, it highlights the power of having someone in your corner when life’s rules start to change. Stay tuned — this story is filled with heart, and there’s so much more to come.
